Burlington American Reds seize city’s Little League championship

Behind Quinn McNeil’s complete-game performance on the mound and Ollie Mobley’s two-run, first-inning double, the Burlington American Reds bested the American Expos 6-3 to claim the city’s Little League championship at Calahan Park on Saturday.

McNeil also picked up two hits at the plate in the six-inning affair between 9- and 12-year-old all-stars. Carter Beauchemin drove in a run with a triple in the fifth inning and Graham McNeil, Oscar Crainich and Westin Bunce made key plays for outs in the top of the sixth to close out the title for the Reds.

For the Expos, Holden Mulvey pitched five solid innings and Jonah Gorman slugged a solo home run in the fourth frame. In the third-place game, the Burlington American Mariners defeated the North Burlington Marlins 6-4.

The American Reds won the Burlington Little League city championship on Saturday at Calahan Park.

The Reds roster includes: Carter Beauchemin, Alex Binkhorst, Jaden Binkhorst, Harper Bunce, Westin Bunce, Ollie Crainich, Oscar Crainich, Graham McNeil, Quinn McNeil, Ollie Mobley and Wyatt Nelson. 

Derek Beauchemin, Paul Crainich, Colin McNeil and Seth Mobley made up the Reds coaching staff.
